Probably every Ukrainian man knows that in August 24 is independence day of Ukraine. This holiday reflects primordial aspirations Ukrainian people for unity, sovereignty and independence. Traditions of celebrations

Celebration every anniversary starts from August 23 – Flag day . Every year in Flag Day, Ukrainian flag stately is flied in different parts of Ukraine. With respect to national symbols this iniative is traditionally supported by the Diplomatic Services

The flowers always are put to the heros’ monuments who lost life for independence, freedom and bright future of Ukraine.

The celebration will last till late evening and continue with educational actions dedicated to history of holiday. The singers and popular bands present own songs for Independence day on numerous concerts. Big publishing houses and craftsmen make the postcards for greetings Ukrainian people over the world.

The date of birth sovereign country is known nearly for everyone but it wasn’t always the same. At first the day of celebration was choose the July 16, because in this day was adopted declaration about state sovereignty of Ukraine. In 1990 this document was signed by deputies of Parliament Ukrainian Soviet Republic. In summer was held first celebrations but further events made some changes.

The Supreme rada proclaimed Ukraine independent in August 24, 1991 and this decision was supported all ukrainian referendum. The news from 20 th of February informed that it became the reason for final festive date which was adopted by the first Parliament covocation. At first the Independence day was celebrated in 1992. Till this time Ukrainian people traditionally celebrate this holiday in August 24.

The next big state holiday is the Day of Constitution which was adopted in June 28,1996. It isn’t celebrated so stately as official proclamation of independence but is very meaningful for Ukrainian people.
